IIPS Riyadh celebrates Saudi National Day with fervor
The 87th Saudi National Day took center stage inInternational Indian Public School-Riyadh on Thursday, September 22nd, 2017. The festive spirit was marked by the teachers and students adorned in green and white, the colors of the Saudi national flag. The little ladies looked stunning in traditional ‘kaftaans’ while the little young men swaggered in spotless white ‘thobes’. The Saudi National Day is an occasion of great joy but this time it was specially joyous capping the season of Hajj and Eid.
The Quranic recitation at the start of school assembly carried a special significance as the day marked the founding of a kingdom that cradles the birth place of Islam and where these very verses were revealed.
The principal, MrK M Abdul Azeezmentioned that for students and staff not only has Saudi Arabia been their second home, but as part of the curriculum they have been privileged to learn about the eventful history, enchanting culture and hospitable people of our host country. Anecdote laden speeches by the vice principal, members of the managing committee and teachers painted a colorful vista of this one of a kind country that combines traditional, religious and spiritual with modern, industrial and bold at the same time.
After the assembly the revelry commenced with an elegantly rendered performance of the Ardhah dance. As the cultural events progressed from one energetic performance to another, one could not fail to correlate the mood within the school with the great optimism that prevailed in the kingdom and the youth that defines its population.
As the events came to a close, and the students went their way, one could not help but notice a spring in the step of sparkle eyed youngsters wowed and inspired by a great country and its ambitious people.
