Report on “World Disability Day” Celebration at SCC

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992.   It is to show the persons of disability that they are part of us and one of us.  They are not different from others by any means.  Thus, taking them in stride with us.

The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

In line with the above, Special Care Centre children celebrated this day by participating in the assembly with the mainstream boys’ section.  Principal delivered a speech after the assembly and impressed upon the students of mainstream to consider the differently abled children as one of them and not treat them differently.  That they should be motivated and encouraged to meet and overcome the challenges they may face.  SCC children played different games, and shared their food amongst each other.  School distributed a SR.50/- Gift Voucher to each of the SCC students, from the funds raised / collected by Exhibition-cum-sale organized by the Centre earlier last month.
