Activity Report : Autism Day Celebration at Special Care Center (2019-20)
The rate of autism in all regions of the world is high and the lack of understanding has a tremendous impact on the individuals, their families and communities. Autism is a lifelong neurological condition that manifests during early childhood, irrespective of gender, race or Socio – economic status.” Thus, Autism Awareness Day is meant “to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society.”
World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on 2nd April every year. This day special programs and events are organized to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) throughout the world.
Keeping in line with this Awareness Day, Special Care Center organized special assembly of the Children with Autism along with the students of mainstream. Speeches were delivered by Autistic children. Some Autistic children also sang songs. They also displayed placards in the Assembly.
After the joint assembly children of Special Care Center were involved in different activities like sandwich making and coloring.
Thus, the children with Special needs helped creating awareness of Autism.
