Bharat Scouts & Guides
Adventure Camp – July 2016
“Even if we can’t solve all the problems, we can help to make it a better place. Scouting makes a positive contribution to society by helping young people to develop as active members of the Community”.
An exciting five day Adventure Scouts & Guides Camp organized by Bharat Scouts and Guides, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recognized by National Headquarters, New Delhi, India and Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, was held at Kannan Devan Tea Club, Munnar, Kerala from 18 July 2016 to 22 July 2016. More than 180 students and 50 teachers from various CBSE schools across the kingdom attended the camp with zeal and enthusiasm. The camp was inaugurated by esteemed dignitaries and high ranking officials of Bharat Scouts & Guides from Kerala State and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Camp provided a favourable occasion to the students to develop and showcase their leadership skills, display compassion, explore the outdoors, respect Mother nature, experience new cultures as well as learning to share and care in a different environment. It also included sessions on the principles of Scouting and Guiding, trekking, disaster management, first-aid, service to humanity, etc. Furthermore, the students were inculcated with values like self-reliance, honesty, selflessness, discipline, integrity, treating and respecting elders and youngsters alike. The camp firmly emphasized on the protection of animals as well as the environment. The students were enlightened about the importance of healthy living too, through ardent physical exercises for the holistic development of body, mind and soul . The camp also organized a visit to the famous Tea Museum in Munnar and a thrilling visit to the Adventure Park, where the students indulged in all sorts of exhilarating activities like quad biking, paint ball, rock climbing, buggy rides, trampoline, suspension bridge etc.
Moreover, the five days at the camp ended with an invigorating campfire daily, which proved to be the ‘highlight’of the camp as every night, the students displayed and expressed their talent, creativity and aesthetic side, by performing diverse dance forms and rendering soulful melodies, that truly created a soothing effect on all the attendees. Besides, the camp also provided a platform to all the students to live in harmony and overcome their inhibitions to develop into strong and confident human beings. The teachers attending the camp underwent a Basic Training Course for Flock leaders and Scout Masters during their stay at Munnar. They were rewarded with mementos and certificates at the closing ceremony after a rigorous training schedule.
The IIPS Scouts team represented by 16 students and two staff members, seized the golden opportunity of attending the camp and participated wholeheartedly with dedication, fervor and vivaciousness. Such kind of exposure for the IIPS students residing in KSA, proved to be a stimulating experience to explore nature in all its glory and embrace all living creatures. It also helped them to adapt to different environments with tolerance, patience, selflessness and willingness to face life in all situations. Under the able training, guidance & mentorship of experienced Bharat Scouts and Guides officials and Kerala State officials, the camp proved to be a success.
The Camp ended on a grand note with the awarding of Bharat Scouts and Guides medals, badges and certificates to all the students & teachers for their overwhelming dynamic participation.
